Effective October 30, 2026 · Terms version 2026-10-30-v1
1. About these terms
These terms set out the conditions for using the My People app (the "app") provided by Opening step (the "operator"), represented by Hyeongyu Jang. By downloading or using the app, you agree to these terms.
The terms of the store you downloaded the app from also apply: Apple's Standard End User License Agreement if you got it from the App Store, or the Google Play Terms of Service if you got it from Google Play.
2. Free trial
- You can use every feature free for 90 days from the day you first open the app.
- The free trial doesn't require any payment details, and you won't be charged automatically when it ends.
- When the trial ends, you can no longer add, edit, or delete anything, and notifications stop. You can still view and search your data, call and text people, move to a new phone, and export your data.
3. Subscription
- To keep using the app, start an auto-renewing subscription. You can choose a monthly or a yearly plan. The monthly plan is ₩1,900 in Korea, $1.49 in the United States, and ¥200 in Japan; the yearly plan is ₩19,900, $14.99, and ¥2,200. In other countries, the price set by the store applies. The exact amount and whether tax is included are shown on the purchase screen.
- When you subscribe, you're charged that day for the period you chose (one month or one year) and can use every feature for that period. If you subscribe during the free trial, your trial ends and your subscription period starts on the day you subscribe.
- Your plan renews automatically for the same period. You will be charged for the next period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before renewal on the App Store, or before the renewal date on Google Play.
- To cancel, go to Settings › Subscription in the app, which takes you straight to the store's subscription management. After you cancel, you can keep using the app until the end of the period you paid for. After that, adding, editing, deleting, and notifications stop, just as when the free trial ends.
- On another phone signed in to the same store account, tap Restore purchases in the app to continue your plan.
4. Refunds
Payments and refunds are handled by the store you downloaded the app from; the operator cannot cancel payments or issue refunds directly. Whether you can get a refund depends on the store's policies, the purchase terms, and your region.
5. Keeping your data
- Your data exists only on your phone and in your phone's backups. The operator doesn't receive or keep a copy of your data, so if you lose your phone, delete the app, or your device breaks, the operator cannot restore your data.
- To keep your data safe, turn on your phone's backups, or use Export data in the app to keep a separate copy.
- Neither the app nor the operator knows the password for an exported data file. If you forget it, you won't be able to open that file.
6. Your responsibilities
- The app holds other people's contact details and records. Please follow applicable laws and respect those people's rights when you use it.
- Don't use the app to harass or deceive others, to send spam, or for any unlawful purpose.
- Don't reverse-engineer or modify the app, or resell it to others.
7. Providing and changing the app
- The operator may update the app and add or change features. Important changes will be announced in the app or on this page.
- The operator works to keep the app free of errors but does not guarantee that it will work without errors on every device and in every situation.
- Except in cases of the operator's willful misconduct or gross negligence, and to the extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for indirect damages arising from your use of the app.
8. Rights
The rights to the app and its design, text, and images belong to the operator. Licenses for the open-source software used in the app are listed at the bottom of Settings in the app. Your data belongs to you.
9. Changes to these terms
When these terms change, the changes and their effective date will be posted on this page at least 7 days in advance, or at least 30 days in advance for changes that are unfavorable to you. If you don't agree to the new terms, you can stop using the app and cancel your plan.
10. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. If a dispute arises, please let us know first at dfrc.jhg@gmail.com. If legal action is needed, it will be handled by the court with jurisdiction under the Korean Civil Procedure Act. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under mandatory consumer protection laws of the country where you live.
